The creation of the HIF has helped its members gain control of their healthcare expenditures. The HIF provides savings and alleviates budgetary constraints affecting you as both an employee and a taxpayer.

How does the HIF save you money:

  • Systems to detect fraud and/or abuse
  • Lower fixed costs via the elimination of insurance company overhead, profit, premium, taxes, etc.

THE HIF'S GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The goal of the HIF is to to provide quality benefit plans  and the necessary support and guidance to  in the most cost-effective manner . Managed care plans have been made available to provide employees with higher reimbursement levels when utilizing in network  providers.

We hope that employees will play an active role in their healthcare purchases, treating benefit dollars as they do any other household expenditure.

Whenever possible, you should report any suspected areas of abuse to the HIF. Recently, a trade magazine indicated that fraud/abuse may be responsible for up to 25% of the cost of healthcare.

The HIF publishes a monthly newsletters in an effort to provide you information on your benefits and trending wellness topics.

We continue to stress the importance of preventative care and routine visits and living a healthier lifestyle.
